Waiting Until Later

You may have heard people say they might become a Christian later in life, but there are Christians who can tell you from personal experience what the results of doing that are.

They may remember many social situations they would have handled differently had they started taking Christianity seriously earlier in life.

Imagine overhearing a freshman say in the caf in college that they might become a Christian at 45.  In other words, they see some good in it but would rather put it off for a long time.  What would the results of this be, however?

Someone around 45 to 50 now who came to Christianity later in life could probably tell you they can think of many painful incidents they probably could have avoided if they had known just a little more about humanity and how to treat people.  They may remember many social situations they would have handled differently had they started taking Christianity seriously earlier in life.  These situations may bring back memories of people who had been emotionally hurt, for example.

Being a Christian, or having similar beliefs, doesn’t mean that you will never make mistakes in how you interact with other people.  However, it does mean that you are less likely to do so and more likely to leave people feeling good about themselves.  With the insights of Jesus about human beings and how to treat them in your heart, you will create more good memories concerning how you treated other people in life, even in difficult circumstances. This is a key reason not to put off becoming a Christian.
